Scarlet Fritillary (Fritillaria recurva) plant with three blossoms, and Rufous Hummingbird (Selasphorus rufus), Upper Table Rocks, BLM and Nature Conservancy land. The Table Rocks were designated in 1984 as an Area of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC) to protect special plants and animal species, unique geologic and scenic values, and education opportunities. the Table Rocks are now owned and collaboratively managed by the Conservancy and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). For those of you who couldn't make it to the opening of our current exhibit: "Beauty and the Beast: California's Wildflowers and Climate Change" at the Jewett Gallery, San Francisco Main Public Library here is a short intro and the slideshow/lecture.
